Download Instructions
To install Diversi-Tune, click on the Install_Divtune.exe download link above and choose "Run This Program From The Current Location" (Internet Explorer). Alternatively, you may right click the download link and choose "Save Target As" to save the file to any folder on your hard drive. Then, run the "Install_Divtune.exe" file. A box will appear asking you if you want to install Diversi-Tune in the default folder, which is C:\Program Files\Diversi-Tune\. Click "Yes" to install in this folder. Or, to install in another folder, click "No", and then choose or create the folder from the File Dialog box which will appear.
Install_Divtune.exe will save the file, Divtune.exe to the desired folder, and change the name of the existing Divtune.exe (from a previous version, if any) to "Re-Install_xxxxx_Divtune.exe" (xxxxx is the version). You may delete the Re-Install files if you wish, or keep them to run if you need to Re-install an older version. The Install_Divtune.exe file is deleted.
Diversi-Tune version numbers are of the format X.ymmdd where X is the major version (Currently 2), and ymmdd is the year (last digit), month, and day when this version was released.
Diversi-Tune will then ask you if you want to make Divtune.exe your default "mid" file player, and default "kar" & "mp3" file player. Click "Yes" to all questions if you don't already have a mid, kar and mp3 player you prefer. Then, you can run any "mid", "kar" or mp3 file from Windows and Diversi-Tune will automatically start up and play them.
If you click "No" to a question, you will need to run Divtune.exe directly, or run a ".dtso", ".dtcd", or ".dtwd" file, to start Diversi-Tune. While Divtune.exe is running, it temporarily becomes the "mid", "kar" and "mp3" player until you close Divtune.exe.
After downloading and installing Divtune.exe, you can download all the song files on the divtune.com web site in one big file, s.zip. After unzipping s.zip, run the file, "dt.dtso". It will bring up the same song list as on the web page.
Note that normally the program file will be at C :\Program Files\Diversi-Tune\Divtune.exe after the installation is complete. If you want to create a shortcut to the program, be sure it goes to Divtune.exe AFTER the install process creates it.

Java VM Installation
Diversi-Tune is written in the Java programming language, and requires Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, or XP with the Java VM installed. If your system does not have the Java VM installed, you won't be able to run Divtune.exe (it will just say "Java Error"). To make sure you have the Java VM installed, see if the Web Version works. If it doesn't, you will first need to update Windows to install the Java VM.
Windows XP doesn't come with Java any more. If
Divtune.exe isn't working, you need to install Microsoft Java. You can get it
here:
www.seatadvisor.com/msjavx86.exe
After installing, be sure to go to Tools/Windows Update to get the latest Java security fixes.
To run Diversi-Tune from the web page at www.divtune.com/dt.htm
you need to make sure Sun Java is disabled for Internet Explorer. To make sure
Sun Java isn't preventing Microsoft Java from loading, go to the Control Panel,
and choose the Java Plugin, then the Browser Tab. Make sure that Internet Explorer
is unchecked. You have to close and restart Internet Explorer for the change
to go into effect.
Once you have downloaded and installed the Microsoft Java VM (and rebooted), try running Divtune.exe again.
The current version of Divtune.exe includes the capability to check to see if an updated version is available, and download and install the update. To use this feature, first connect to the Internet. Then start your current version of Divtune.exe and click the "Help" menu option. You'll notice "Check For Update" is the only option that works. Choose this option, and the program will tell you if a newer version is available. If there is a newer version ready, go to "Help" again and choose "Get Update", which will now be working. The update should download and install automatically. Be sure to click "Yes" when asked if you want to install. To abort the update process, close the program before the download finishes.
You can also update simply by rerunning Install_Divtune.exe from this page. This is necessary if you have an older version without the automatic update feature, or if the automatic update feature doesn't work on your computer for some reason.
