Carpenter Mountain
7/26/08

This old growth forest hike had a lot of fallen trees. This tree was unusual.

The top of the tree was embedded in the top of another dead tree.

There is a staffed fire lookout hut at the top. The guy was a "hippy" type. I offered him half of my ham sandwich, a hard boiled egg, and some cookies. He declined, and then admitted he was VEGAN! Oops.

Looking down from the top on 2 other hikers going down.

Boulder field of rubble coming off the sides of the mountain.

Westward view shows where I hiked the day before.

I hiked to the left side of Tibits Mountain on Friday.

Wolf Rock, the "largest monolith in Oregon".

Mt. Jefferson

Three Sisters.

Stunning view of cloud formations on the way back down: my favorite shot of the hike!
The sky is photoshopped a little to brighten up the haze from the recent fires.

Even the parking spot has a great view.

Mt. Washington from the parking area.

Hike was 1 mile of continuous uphill 1,000 feet. Whew!
